5/31 - thank you to all our JV and Varsity boys and girls who assisted in coaching our Middle School League. You did a spectacular job and made a real difference in the lives of almost 200 kids. We're very proud of you all. Now - all you girls going to the JU team camp (or any other camps). Get signed up and start working out. The goals will be moved in the next day or two back to our house with one goal remaining at Kanapaha for general use. You are all welcome (as always) to hit the rebounders or goals at our house.
___ 5/6/09 - our end of the year banquet was wonderful! Thanks to everyone that made it such a special day, especially to Taylor Burnett who spent days preparing CD's for the JV team and Jonathan Allen who did the same for the Varsity. Both were wonderful!!
Varsity - start signing up for the JU team camp if you will be attending and let me know when you have done so. The link is www.julacrosse.com.
And a special shout out to our own Goalie L.A. Zdziarski who has committed to Roanoke College in Roanoke, VA as a double sport player - the first sport being soccer and the second sport being L.A. CROSSE!!! Get it? We wish all our seniors luck as they head off this summer and know that we will miss them.
___ 4/29/09 - our end of the year JV/Varsity banquet will be this Sunday, 5/3 1:00 - 4:00 at the Gainesville Country Club. Everyone needs to let Kathy Burnett know if they will be attending or not - please do this by tomorrow (Thur) so we can finalize our numbers with the GCC. We will have a lovely lunch of grilled chicken or hamburgers with all the trimmins. JV and Varsity players are free, all other parents and sibs are $5 per head. Kathy's e-mail is katherineburnett@aol.com. Hope to see you all there!!!
____ 4/13/09 today is the first day of our Middle School League with many of our boys and girls BHS team players coaching. Keep tabs here for important information as well as rain cancellations. As a reminder, Kanapaha, Howard Bishop and Ft. Clarke will practice Monday and Wednesday from 4 - 6 at those schools. Lincoln and Westwood will practice Tuesday and Thursday from 4 - 6 at those schools. Games will be on May 2, May 9, May 16 and May 23, at Diamond Sports Park. ___ We finished up the season with two losses, losing to Ponte Vedra 5 - 17 and then driving over to Flagler Palm Coast for a 6 - 21 loss. Personally I think the second loss had more to do with the fact that our girls were still full from our fun lunch at the Oasis in St. Augustine! But we had a great time doing the whole very long day!! We also brought up 7 of our JV team to see what the "big show" was like and they did a wonderful job jumping into the mix. We were able to give them quite a bit of playing time during the day as well as making sure our seniors stayed in for the greater part of two games for their final debut. We also want to give a shout out to one of our girls, Kristen Gomez, a freshman that just started playing this past summer, who finished out the season with 50 goals. We end our first Varsity season with 5 wins - 10 losses, against teams that have been around for 3 - 4 years and we are very proud of you all
--- The team did well against Matanzas on March 20 with a 19 - 1 win!!
March 17 - We are heading into the home stretch of our 2009 spring season with 4 wins and 8 losses. Our last game against Dr. Phillips HS of Orlando was an 8 - 10 loss that we should have been able to squeak a win out of. We'll keep trying.
We have 3 games left and a lot to work on in these next two weeks. Our next and last home game will be this Friday, 3/20 at the Boys and Girls Club field at 6:00. We will be honoring our seniors and hope to see everyone there! ----- As of February 22nd, we have 2 wins and 2 losses. We are still trying to put together a good performance. We lost a game in overtime that we should have won... got schooled (and humbled) by a very skilled team... and played our worst game of the season in another game but managed to win (we had 43 shots on goal and could not score - ouch!)). The effort is there but our focus needs to improve. Let's work hard to correct our mistakes. We have some big games coming up against some talented teams. If we play up to our potential, we should be very competitive. Good job ladies!! Coach Millinoff _______

Recent News Recruiting Resource - Jan 3, 2009There are a number of on-line recruiting services for high school athletes hoping to play their particular sport at the next level. These services can be very expensive and their results are mixed. Most of these sites are sport specific to football and basketball. However, there is a new site specifically for lacrosse recruiting... The Coaches' Eye. The Coaches' Eye may be the wave of the future for college recruiting. Online services generally just provide a profile for a college coach to see. The Coaches' Eye not only has the player profile, but also a game film/films for coaches to view, which is attatched directly to the player's profile. Players submit videos up to 100 MB and around 8-10 minutes in length. They can upload their own footage directly from their profile page. The beauty of the Coaches' Eye is that EVERY college coach can have access. Every D-I, DII, and D-III lacrosse coach is given free access to this service. This means there is the potential to not only have your video viewed by every coach you would send a tape to, but also all those college coaches you may not have thought of, but may have an interest in you. The Coaches' Directory has a comprehensive list of men's and women's coaches in each division, complete with contact information. It is important that players participating in this service let coaches know they are in the Coaches' Eye. You can also upload a self photo and a small video clip. The video may be a clip of you playing or even an interview to let coaches get to know you. Another beauty of the system is that your player profile can be updated as many times as you like, and whenever you like. There is, of course, a membership fee pf $19.95 a month, but there is no minimum membership requirement. If you want to sign on for a couple of months or a year, its up to you. For those of you interested in playing at the next level, this service may be a very useful tool. There are a lot of D-II and D-III schools that do not have the budget for coaches to make recruiting trips, but these schools have scholarship money for players. This site can give coaches from all over the country a chance to check out your game film to see if you might fit into their program. If they like what they see, they will contact you for more information. This can often lead to a recruiting trip to visit their campus. Although it is a good idea to start this process by your junior year, it is never too late to try and catch some coaches' eye! We have linked up to The Coaches' Eye on our links page. Check it out.

Good Luck Meagan Anderson, Natalie McIntosh, Jane Morse and LA Zdziarski!!
Our high scorers were Olivia Farris with 6 goals and Kristen Gomez with 4, followed by 2 each from Kelly Laux, Emily Markey and Erin Millinoff, and one goal each from Meagan Anderson, Jane Morse and Bea Schratt (with a long run from D). It was a beautiful evening and, since it was our last home game, we were able to honor our 4 departing seniors during a halftime ceremony. Each girl was presented with a rose as they ran through a tunnel formed by their teammates, to stand on the field with their parents. Our 4 seniors are Meagan Anderson, Jane Morse, Natalie McIntosh and LA Zdziarski. We will miss them.
